I have definitely gone though stages the past couple years of working out then stopping, then starting up again and so on. I never really stuck to anything because I didn’t really enjoy what I was doing {basically just going to the gym and doing various things}. That is definitely one of the most important thing to remember if you are wanting to start working out- do something that you actually enjoy so that you can stick with it! Working out has definitely become apart of my routine for the past 4 months and I wanted to share my favourite at-home workouts to do and my ultimate FAVOURITE workout class!
Let’s start with At-Home Workouts..
The internet {mainly Youtube} is filled with free workout videos that can easily be done at home. These are so useful especially in the winter time when it is a lot harder to get outside (because well it’s -40 out there, not cool.) I really like doing a quick 10-15 minute arm routine in the morning 2-3 times a week before going to work. I normally just stick to arm routines in the mornings {during the week} because I don’t get too sweaty before having to head off to work. Here are a couple arm routines that I like to do:
Tone It Up – Bikini Arms Routine
Sarah Fit – Slim ‘n’ Sculpted Arm Workout
I also really like doing at-home workouts that work the entire or even specific body workouts {for example core, legs, abs, etc.}. Here are some I love:
Full Body 13 minute workout
Abs & Core Yoga
There is SO many more workout videos that I love. Any workout video from Tone It Up, Blogilates or Sarah Fit are definitely ones I enjoy! Do you like doing at-home workouts? Let me know in the comments which ones your favourites are!
At-Home Equipment
Now there are a lot of videos online that require no equipment but I wanted to list the at-home equipment that I have and really enjoy using:
- Yoga Mat – I have one from Lululemon that has literally lasted me years. Definitely a great investment if you plan on doing at home workouts or going to yoga classes. A lot of places do sell more affordable yoga mats too if that is something you are looking for.
- 3-10 lbs. weights – Perfect for those arm videos! I have some from Wal-Mart and they are great (only a couple dollars each!). Start small and then as you go you can move up and purchase heavier weights.
- Stretch bands – Stretch bands are a great way to take those leg and booty workouts to the next level! Seriously, they are great! Most bands come in a pack of 3-4 with increase in resistance so you can start light and increase as you go. I purchased mine through Tone It Up, which unfortunately they do not sell anymore, but Amazon has plenty of them!
- Workout Ball – Although I use this piece of equipment the least compared to the others in this list, it really does help improve stability. It is also a great way to really stretch and work those abs!
Winnipeg Classes
Now on to my favourite part of this post….CYCLE CLASS! Early December a friend and I hit up our first cycle class at WPG Cycle {south Osborne} and we were hooked! You get an amazing workout along with being in a really motivating atmosphere. Loud music, dimmed lights, great instructors and biking your heart out! I highly recommend trying a cycle class if you haven’t yet!
Another class I like to go to from time to time is Hot Hatha at Moksha Yoga. This class is focused on stretching and relaxing, which is definitely needed in between those cycle classes! It’s also nice and toasty warm in the hot room!
What are your favourite workouts?! Let me know in the comments!

Aline
thanks for sharing the links to those videos.. glad you are enjoying the cycle class – I’ve heard its a great workout.
I have been enjoying the Good Life gym after switching over from Snap Fitness. I feel motivated when I’m there and the staff are friendly. I would have continued with the personal trainer but it was too expensive so I just following what she showed me in the 3 sessions I had with her and I am pushing along.
Also, I am loving the avocado, toast, egg and tomato combination that you had posted last year… its one of my favourites
Exploring Healthy Foods
