I am so happy that different fruits are becoming more and more in season. It has been fairly hot where I live and this green citrus juice is super refreshing. I do prefer smoothies, but sometimes after work or being outside in the heat I just want some good old juice! I own a juicer but rarely take it out. Mainly because there are like 6 different pieces and all need to be hand washed after making the juice. It’s just a lot of work for a cup of juice!
When I was in the grocery store the other day and passed the watermelon I knew I wanted to make some sort of juice with it. I figured the sweet taste of watermelon would go great with kale and a citrus fruit. I am not normally a fan of grapefruit in large doses but for some reason when I was passing it in the grocery store I thought it would be a great additional to the combo. Luckily it turned out great! I love when recipes turn out first try! {let’s be honest-that rarely happens!} If you are not a total grapefruit fan like myself, don’t worry because you barely taste the grapefruit. It’s more just like a hint of citrus with sweet and hydrating watermelon.
There are a couple different ways to make juice using a blender. One way is using a blender and making a smoothie as you would only adding more water and using a nut bag or cheese cloth to remove the pulp. This is a really great method if you don’t want to purchase a juicer but it can be a little messy, and somewhat time consuming, but better than washing dishes in my opinion:P. In this juice I did not have to use this method mainly because the ingredients used do not take much to break down. I used a vitamix but any high speed blender will be able to make this juice!
