When Zespri sent me a package a couple weeks ago, I totally thought it was something else I had ordered online. Once I opened the package I was super confused as I was not expecting this package just yet and it didn’t cross my mind that this is what it was. I was pleasantly surprised when it clicked and saw a lovely basket full of Kate Spade kitchen gadgets and these SunGold Kiwis from Zespri! A little nervous as I opened the box that had the kiwis in it as it was sitting at my parents for about a week {again I totally thought it was a different package so didn’t bother getting it right away}. Thankfully they were packaged very well and I was able to enjoy these kiwis!
Zespri SunGold Kiwis
SunGold Kiwis have some differences than the popular green kiwis. A few of the main differences are:
- SunGold kiwis are more yellow than green.
- Their skin is smooth on the outside as opposed to fuzzy skin on green kiwis.
- They have a more tropical-sweet taste, which I think is perfect for people who prefer a more subtle sweet taste.
SunGold kiwis can be purchased at your local grocery store from May-October {list of grocery stores that carry them here}. They can easily be incorporated into recipes {like this popsicle recipe I am about to share} or eaten by themselves by the “cut and scoop” method! I love this because they can easily be eaten on the go! These kiwis are nutrient dense and are a great source of fibre, vitamin C, potassium, folic acid and vitamin E.
