Remember Nesquick flavoured milk? I believe they are still around and still fairly popular. I have never been a fan of regular dairy milk and those flavoured milks definitely did not appeal to me. But the thought of strawberry chocolate ALMOND milk was definitely something I could get on board with! I am not saying anything is wrong with regular milk, you could easily swap almond milk for skim milk in this recipe, but it is just my personal preference to use almond milk.
Vega Sport Protein Powder-Chocolate flavour
To achieve the chocolate flavour, I am using chocolate flavour Vega Sport protein powder. I really like Vega Sport protein powders because they are a plant-based {blend of sprouted whole grain brown rice, pea, alfalfa, and SaviSeed protein}, gluten-free and vegan.
Nutrition// 25g of protein {complete protein!} in 1 scoop, also provides 5,000mg of BCAA’s {branched chain amino acids- essential amino acids metabolized in muscle tissue for quick use to rebuild muscle after a good workout}
Where to buy// Online, local health food store {Vita Health, Organza Market}, some grocery stores {Superstore}, Popeyes Canada
This particular flavour is available in single packs or can be purchased in the bigger tubs.
Other plant-based protein powder brands I recommend// Vega One, Vega Smoothie, Plant Fusion, Phood and Manitoba Harvest
PROMO CODE for Manitoba Harvest: HHSweatPink215 for 20% off entire web store at manitobaharvest.com.
Expires: March 31, 2015.
This beverage is great to drink after a workout or in the mornings with breakfast before a busy day!
A note on Protein Powders
Protein powders can benefit many individuals such as those who are very athletic, athletes, vegetarians, vegans or those wanting a quick snack or meal on the go. It’s important to know that a variety of whole foods is encouraged when wanting to eat healthy and not only relying on protein powders to get in your daily protein requirement.
