Trail mix makes the perfect anytime snack. I love making my own because it’s more affordable, I can easily manage the salt content, and I don’t get stuck with a bunch of wasted peanuts at the bottom of the bag that I don’t want..does this happen to anyone else? haha.
There are so many ways to make trail mix. The recipe I am sharing today is by far one of the simplest ways. It only has 5 ingredients, cashews, almonds, banana chips, cranberries and dark chocolate. Dried cranberries are everywhere this time of year and banana chips are one of the most affordable dried fruit.
I highly recommend buying nuts in bulk {bulk barn is great if you’re in Winnipeg!} as it is a lot more affordable than pre-packaged nuts. Just make sure you are getting the unsalted nuts/seeds!

I know if I don’t portion this trail mix out I would eat the whole thing, or at least a lot of it, so I definitely recommend portioning it out right away and it’s all ready to go! This trail mix can easily be made on the weekend and then Monday morning I can stock my desk with these already portioned out trail mix containers. Then I can easily reach for them when I need a pick-me-up in the afternoon!
What is your favourite ingredient in trail mix?
