Hi everyone! On Tuesday I posted everything you need to know about juicing and some of the differences between juices and smoothies. I have a ton of smoothie recipes on my blog so I thought it was about time to share some juice recipes! Three of my favorite combinations of juices all in one place. If you want to know more about juicing check out my post here.
Sweet Greens
Green juices can have a very pronounced flavor and may take a little while to get used too. With this juice I kept it simple with kale, celery and to sweeten it up, green apples. This juice is jam packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and anti inflammatory properties. It is especially high in vitamin A which helps overall eye health, stimulates immune cells, enhances antibodies and more; vitamin K which helps with blood clotting; vitamin C that enhances iron absorption, fights free radicals and essential in collagen formation; potassium needed for muscle contraction, nerve impulse transmission and maintaining electrolyte and pH balance; calcium; bone and teeth component, nerve impulse transmission and muscle contraction; loaded with antioxidants that help fight free radicals and help the skin looking young and vibrant!
What are free radicals? Free radicals are produced in the body (exposure to sun, exercise, damage to cell). Too many free radicals cause oxidative damage to healthy tissues and induces aging. For those who enjoy chemistry: Free radicals are an unpaired electron in orbit around the nucleus of an atom. In order to regain balance, antioxidants are able to neutralize free radicals and protect the cell from oxidation.
